Staff Engineer – Remote

About the role

The Staff Engineer will combine deep technical execution with product ownership, spending roughly 70% of time coding and 30% shaping product direction. This individual contributor role is fully remote and focuses on high‑impact components for TuxCare's KernelCare and SecureChain products.

Key responsibilities

• Own major product components from discovery through production release and ongoing improvement.
• Collaborate with engineering, product, sales and other stakeholders to gather and clarify requirements.
• Translate product goals into technical plans, milestones and actionable tasks.
• Design scalable architecture and make high‑impact technical decisions.
• Build, review and maintain production‑grade components ensuring reliability, security and performance.
• Monitor components in production, handling issues, evolution and continuous improvement.
• Research relevant technologies, market approaches and competitor solutions as needed.
• Contribute to engineering quality through design reviews, mentorship and best practices.

Required profile

• Proven experience owning major projects or systems end‑to‑end.
• Strong hands‑on Python development and Linux production environment expertise.
• Ability to work independently without close supervision.
• Excellent communication skills for interacting with cross‑functional stakeholders.
• Regular use of AI‑assisted development tools throughout the workflow.
• Advanced written and spoken English.
