Assistant Cook / Commis Chef - Traditional Restaurant

About the role

Apt Resources is recruiting Assistant Cooks / Commis Chefs for a traditional restaurant in Montenegro that specialises in Montenegrin cuisine, barbecue and local cooked dishes. The kitchen values teamwork, careful preparation and a dependable service mindset. The role suits someone who enjoys hands-on kitchen work, likes organised preparation and wants to learn in a fast-paced restaurant environment.

Key responsibilities

• Assist senior chefs in preparing traditional dishes, barbecue items and other menu selections.
• Prepare ingredients by washing, peeling, cutting, portioning and organising food items.
• Follow recipes, portion guidelines and instructions from the head chef or senior kitchen staff.
• Maintain cleanliness and organisation in food preparation and cooking areas.
• Store ingredients correctly and follow food safety and hygiene standards.
• Monitor ingredient availability and alert senior kitchen staff when supplies are running low.
• Clean and maintain kitchen tools and equipment after use.
• Follow kitchen procedures and health and safety requirements.

Required profile

• 1-2 years of kitchen experience in a restaurant or similar food-service environment.
• Culinary certificate, diploma or hospitality training.
• Willingness to relocate to Podgorica, Montenegro, for a one-year contract.

Required skills

• Familiarity with standard kitchen equipment used for basic food preparation, barbecue and traditional cooked dishes.
• Basic knowledge of food preparation, hygiene and kitchen safety standards.
• Ability to follow recipes and instructions from senior kitchen staff.
• Good English communication skills.

What we offer

• Monthly salary of EUR 900 on a one-year contract.
