Director, Engineering

About the role

The Director of Engineering leads the engineering department at One&Only Portonovi, a luxury resort on Montenegro’s Adriatic coast. This senior position is responsible for ensuring all technical systems and facilities operate efficiently, safely, and to the highest standards of guest satisfaction.

Key responsibilities

• Direct and manage the engineering team and daily operations.
• Develop and maintain a preventive maintenance calendar and propose improvement projects.
• Conduct technical service checks, ensuring optimal performance.
• Prepare budgets, allocate resources, and monitor departmental spending.
• Identify and resolve technical issues promptly to maintain guest satisfaction.
• Analyze performance data, recommend and implement system enhancements.
• Lead key projects aimed at optimizing service performance.
• Ensure compliance with regulations, standards, and legislation.
• Coach, counsel, and assess staff performance; identify training needs.
• Liaise with the General Manager and maintain effective communication across all levels.
• Meet reporting deadlines and keep relevant departments informed.
• Build and maintain relationships with external suppliers and partners.

Required profile

• Proven track record in facilities management, both preventive and reactive maintenance.
• Strong negotiation and contract‑management abilities.
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
• Excellent managerial and leadership capabilities.
• Strong technical background in engineering or facilities within a luxury resort environment.
• Outstanding customer‑service orientation for guests and employees.
• Fluent in English; Montenegrin language is a strong advantage.
• Computer literate.
