Small Grants Programme National Coordinator

About the role

The Small Grants Programme (SGP) is a flagship initiative of the Global Environment Facility (GEF) implemented by UNDP to channel direct grants to NGOs and community‑based organisations. The National Coordinator will lead the programme’s activities at the country level, supporting climate‑change adaptation, biodiversity conservation, sustainable livelihoods and other GEF focal areas.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate the national implementation of the GEF Small Grants Programme.
• Facilitate the selection, award and monitoring of grants to non‑governmental and community organisations.
• Work closely with UNDP Vertical Hub, Nature Hub and other partners to ensure alignment with national environmental strategies.
• Provide technical guidance to grantees on project design, reporting and compliance.
• Collect, analyse and report programme data to inform strategic decisions.

Required profile

• Proven experience in managing environmental or development programmes.
• Strong knowledge of GEF processes, climate‑change mitigation, biodiversity or related sectors.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder‑engagement skills.
• Ability to work in a multicultural UN environment.
