Project Associate, Local Inclusive Green Development

About the role

The Project Associate will support UNDP Montenegro’s portfolio of locally driven green development initiatives. Working closely with municipal partners, the associate will help translate national policies into concrete projects that foster climate resilience, inclusive growth, and sustainable finance.

Key responsibilities

• Assist municipalities in preparing and implementing strategic investment plans aligned with EU accession goals.
• Support the design and monitoring of climate adaptation, circular economy, and biodiversity conservation projects.
• Facilitate stakeholder engagement across public, private, and civil‑society actors.
• Contribute to the preparation of proposals for EU Structural and Cohesion Funds.
• Collect, analyse, and report on project data to inform decision‑making and knowledge sharing.

Required profile

• University degree in environmental studies, sustainable development, public administration, or a related field.
• Demonstrated interest in climate action, green finance, and local governance.
• Strong analytical and communication skills, with ability to work in multicultural teams.
• Fluency in English; knowledge of Montenegrin or another local language is an asset.
